This blog is slightly different to my usual riveting stuff, as I really just wanted to say how much I enjoyed doing my bit to support Macmillan Cancer Support at the recent Welton Soapbox Derby.
Now if you have never been to this annual fundraising event held in the beautiful sleepy village of Welton slightly north of Daventry – then you really need to go next year. I was invited along as a local small business to have a stand to exhibit and showcase Video2DVD.
Despite the early start and the rain until lunchtime, I didn’t stand still all day. After lunch, the sun shone and folk arrived in their droves – I have to say it was a very well organised event, well done to Welton Soapbox Committee and Event Buddy (UK) Limited for that. For me, it was a great opportunity to meet new people, to network and to generate new leads, which I have to say I had a fair few.
Here comes a TONY TIP
“Networking is an essential part of growing your business, and events like these are a great tool to do just that, as are networking groups, which I am proud to say I belong to one or two of these as well”.
So, how did it go? Well, I paid my money to have a stand, a banner trackside, a mention in the Welton Soapbox programme and on BBC Radio Northampton. I bet you’re wondering if it was worth it, the money I paid went to a great cause which I am sure you will agree. I met some amazing people, and with nearly 3,000 visitors my adverts and banners were well placed trackside to be seen by a large number of people all at the same time, so I would say “Yes”, well worth it. If you think of all those visitors recording the event, themselves, family and friends and all having a whale of a time enjoying themselves – and If in the future only a fraction of these recordings find their way to me to be placed on DVD I will be a very happy man.
Oh one more thing, if you didn’t come this year – you missed a fabulous family event, why not save next year’s date in your diary 30th June 2018. If you’re a small business, maybe I will see you there.
